For majority of physicists Standard Model is not basic enough. It contains several parameters (for instance masses of elementary particles) which values are not determined by some basic principles, but they have to be adjusted to match with the results of the experiment. “ It is a synthesis of all the data received by using all the accelerators, starting with the Tower of Pisa. It organizes elementary particles, so called quarks and leptons, in an elegant table. The entire Standard Model would fit on a T-shirt, although the print would be pretty condensed. But its elegance is apparent. It describes some phenomena with amazing accuracy, but at the same time it is incomplete and without internal coherence. All the unclear points of this model, even if described very briefly, would not fit even on a XL T-shirt.” - that’s what American physicist Leon Lederman, a discoverer of the mouon neutrin, wrote.

Was the Universe created as a result of a collision?
There was no Big Bang at the very beginning. The matter and energy, feeling the Universe that we know, is an effect of a collision with another universe. That’s what the newest theory, announced recently by four well-known American cosmologists, says.
It this theory will prove to be correct, it will revolutionize our believes regarding the creation and evolution of the Universe that we know. Some models of its creation that are commonly accepted today, will be out of date; maybe there will be presented some new ideas regarding the future of our Universe.

I kissed American ground on LAX when I came back after a long stay in Poland. It hurts me when sometimes I see Americans complaining, blaming, and criticizing America. And there are still so many people all over the world that risk their lives just to get here, to this wonderful country. |

Reuters reported that at least 14 people have died in the southern Arizona desert over the last 5 days due to extremely hot weather conditions. Another 100 immigrants have been rescued as federal, state and local authorities search the area to stop "heat-related" deaths. In all, authorities said 41 immigrants have died this year trying to cross the border patrol's Tucson, Arizona sector. AP reported that more than 300 immigrants have died each year while attempting to cross the border. |

| On November 10, California's Imperial County declared a state of emergency, hoping that the federal government would reimburse some of the costs associated with illegal immigration. In 1998, 100 illegal immigrants have died in Imperial County. Costs associated with identifying the deceased, autopsy and notification of family costs about $200,000 a body, plus an additional $900 for burial if the body is not claimed by relatives. The county says that the hundreds of illegal immigrants rescued in the desert in 1998 cost $1 million for hospitalization, detention in jails and legal assistance. |

Border. A mile-long row of 340 white crosses were placed on November 2 along the Mexico side of the border fence in Tijuana to commemorate those who died attempting to cross the border. In 1998, at least 131 migrants died along California's border with Mexico, compared to 85 in 1997. Operation Gatekeeper has been blamed for pushing migrants east to more dangerous routes. Apprehensions in the San Diego sector in 1997 fell to an 18-year low of 248,092. |

| The article "What's going on with American family?" is one of series of articles we are planning to write, all touching subjects that are very important for everybody in this country. We deeply believe that a family is the most important, substantial element of every society. We are the first and the most important teachers of our kids. Everything they learn in a loving, caring atmosphere of their home, they will carry throughout their entire life, and they will pass to their children. That's why, from the very beginning it was our goal to devote as much time as possible to our kids. That was the reason why one of us - Rosa - was working for years as an Apartment manager, to be home with our kids and to spend as much quality time with them as possible. No matter how busy we were, we always found time to talk to our kids whenever they needed either to share with us their joy, or to tell about their problems. Sometimes, because of so called "peer pressure" or "bad environment", all the good stuff our children learned can be suppressed, but - in some critical life moments they will automatically act as they've been taught by the parents (we know that from our family's experience). People were asking us many times what is a secret of the fact that we are so many years together and love and respect each other so much. We believe that this article touches several important issues and that it will make many think about these issues, that it will provoke, initiate some action.

| "What's going on with American family?" |
|
................... Some parents may not like what we are going to say. Also, some women can disagree or feel offended by particular statements and remarks. But it has to be said any way. As you know, people do not like to hear something about themselves if they know - consciously or sometimes just subconsciously - that this is a truth - an unpleasant, sometimes even painful truth. Our purpose is not to offend anybody - just to make them think about it for a moment. Without bringing out the problem, nothing ever could be done to solve it. And somebody has to start talking about this matter. Why? Because it is a matter of a great importance. That's what happiness of every single person in this country depends on. Happiness of every single American family. Happiness and well being of the entire country America.
Why? Because - and probably most of you would agree with us - family is a basic and the most important component of every society, every nation, every country. If family values do not count any more, if it loses its authority - the entire nation goes down the drain. In contrary - strong, happy family equals strong, happy nation.
A proper functioning and a happiness of a family are strictly connected with proper relationships between family members. ...........more.-
